Story & Plot

Raju comes from a once-rich family which has gradually lost its status and influence. Although smart and sharp-witted Raju lacks discipline and direction in the world. Desiring to improve his standing within the social order, Raju sets his eyes at Charulatha an affluent and confident woman. He believes that wooing her can change his life.

The circumstances lead Raju to a small village where he is attempting to re-build his image using creative tricks, humor and involvement in the community. What begins as a selfish idea transforms into a process of discovery for himself. As the village’s relations, politics and responsibilities enter the picture, Raju is forced to think about his priorities and values.

The plot unfolds in a fun, light style, focusing more on a situational comedy rather as opposed to dramatic twists.

Performances

Naveen Polishetty Is definitely the core for the movie. His humor expressions, expressive reactions, and effortless delivery of dialogue enhance the quality of the quality of many scenes. It doesn’t matter if it’s sarcasm, humor or emotional control, Naveen plays his character easily, making Raju a very enjoyable character.

Meenakshi Chaudhary is well as Charulatha and is able to share a decent relationship with the lead. Her role is well-respected however it could be explored greater depth.

The supporting cast lends a sense of an extra dimension to the story. Rao Ramesh brings the weight and authority of his character, and comedians such as Chammak Chandra and Mahesh Achanta offer a steady flow of laughter. The antagonist character that is played by Tarak Ponnappa creates a little tension, but isn’t fully utilized.

Direction & Screenplay

The director Maari Maari keeps the story simple and easy to understand. The opening half is vibrant and entertaining, brimming with clever dialogues, humor and thrilling moments of character. The setting of the village is utilized effectively to create situationsal comedy.

The second half of the film, however, is a shift towards dramatic drama and social message. Although the intention is admirable but the pacing slows dramatically while the more emotional moments don’t provide the same effect like the comedy parts. A more streamlined screenplay in the final half of the film could improve efficiency overall.

Music & Technical Aspects

Mickey J. Meyer’s music compliments the tone in the story. The songs are enjoyable and well-illustrated, but there aren’t any that stand out as classics. The background score complements both emotions and comedy well. A particular song is a bit unnecessary and may disrupt the flow of the story.

Cinematography by J. Yuvraj is visually appealing and captures the countryside with vibrant and colorful frames. Editing is smooth during the first half, but it could have been more sharp at the end of second in order to keep the pace.
